After accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, and putting our
trust in Him for forgiveness of sins, a divine transformation begins.
Effective discipleship is transformational. It is expected of disciples
of Jesus Christ to be more like Him in attitude, lifestyle, and action.
This is the result of discipleship. This transformation process follows
a biblical pattern described by three simple words; ‘Be’, ‘Know’ and
‘Do’. It is an act of God and not of man, and He gives each disciple
a personal responsibility for growth. God changes us as we learn
about His ways and follow Him in obedience. God uses the process
of discipleship to accomplish His transforming work in us.
Discipleship is being a follower of Christ who will in turn make
others followers of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19; 2 Timothy 2:2).
Anything less minimizes the impact of discipleship efforts. In other
words, while being a disciple is foundational, we must also make
disciples — lest our discipleship effort become self-serving
